Dear Karl,

I just finished reading current Wednesday letter and at my age was very familiar with at least some of the circumstances mentioned.

We went through some of the same experiences with my own mother and father and grandfather.

I am seventy-six years of age and have always been in relatively good health, at least until this past year when I had surgery on my right shoulder for removal of a bone spur which was tearing up a tendon and then cataract surgery on both eyes and two heart attacks all within a three month period.

After the first heart attack, had angioplasty which did not last and am now on several medications. They say I have forty percent heart function left but I am doing quite well.

Of course I think of your current article and know it is a matter of time I will be in the same situation, and of course I too do not want to burden my family with extended care.

The one problem I see with alternative treatment such as you prescribe is that though the patient might agree with you, he has insurance that does not cover anything but the accepted medical treatment and therefore has to forego treatment he would rather try.

I appreciate your work and look forward to your to reading your material.

I certainly do not expect you to take the time away from your work to answer this letter but appreciate your writings.
