An Explanation Of The Veda -- From India

Dear Loren,

I was trying to reply to the message of yours yesterday from the office.  I wrote a very elaborate reply spending a little over an hour.  Something happened to the computer before I sent the message, and the message was lost.  I then started writing again and wrote just two sentences.   Somebody came to meet me, so I stopped typing and was engaged in conversing with him.  When I returned to the computer, I found the message gone which was incomplete and unsigned.

But I just got a thanking letter from Chris Thomas for that unfinished letter.  Nice of you Chris Thomas to acknowledge an incomplete letter.  ...!!!

However I feel I should write a more elaborate clarification for your benefit, though not as elaborate as I did yesterday with the message that was lost, as that was a very inspired writing.

VEDA:

Veda simply means in Sanskrit .... "Knowledge".  There are 4-Vedas.

1. Rig-Veda .............. deals with the Origin of the Universes from the Big-bang to today,  covering the entire Cosmology & Astronomy,  Space-Time etc...etc...

2. Sama-Veda ........... deals primarily with the understanding of the individual Spirit .."Atman" (Thetan) and its inter-relationship with the Supreme spirit called "Paramatman" OR "Parambrahman" ... GOD, the Original Cause of all subsequent Causes.

Incidentally GOD is the word coined out of the Vedic concept of Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara  ....  meaning .... "Generator -- Operator -- Destroyer."

3. Yezur-Veda .............. deals completely with Life Sciences including all living systems in the universe, plus the Humanities.  Ayur-Veda is a chapter of this Veda, dealing with the Curative aspects of diseases.

4. Atharvana-Veda .......... deals with all Physical Sciences and everything that is left out in the earlier mentioned vedas. Incidentally,  you will find chapters on Ayurveda here too, but dealing with the Causative aspects of diseases.

Ayu ... literally means ... "Longevity".   Hence Ayur-veda  means literally "Science of Living" which implies keeping healthy Mind and Body.

It is believed that Dr. Samuelle Hahnemann (Father of Homeopathy) studied the chapters of Ayurveda from both vedas,  and connected the link between the Cause and the Cure of a disease.  He discovered that the Cure lies where the Cause is and both are two sides of the same coin,  just as the solution to any problem is in the problem itself.

This "Principle"  finds its reflection in Dianetic Auditing.  You relive an experience that has caused an Engram and the negative affects of it are gone leaving it,  as a pure data in your memory.

I had written a lot more in my earlier letter yesterday.  But I am not in the same inspired state now as I have to leave for the office.  If I recollect what I wrote yesterday,  I will write to you as an addendum later.

The origin of "GOD??" 

That sounds too convenient to be valid??

The original word was in Sanskrit?  Did that translate over to English? as God?

The letters G and O and D?? my goodness.

I had similar feelings when I first read the research works on the origin of the word GOD.

The original words in Sanskrit Viz.  Brahma ... means ... Creation / Generation,    Vishnu (Narayana) .... means ... All Pervasive Operation & Sustenance,  Maheshwara (Shankara, Shiva) ... Symbolizes ... total transformation  into Elements through disintegration, which you can interpret as Destruction, which in turn is the preparation for a new creation and the cycle goes on.

There is no definite recorded proof to say that this is the way originally the word GOD was coined as it happened very long ago. You will not find proof for any English word that way.  It is very well know that many English words were coined through borrowings from Greek, Latin and Sanskrit. 

The logic of the researcher on GOD, seems impressive and believable.

Dear Dr. Ayyangar,

Cute idea, and I certainly agree that many words are borrowed, but it still seems a great stretch to take a few of the word used to describe Vedic entities, words in ENGLISH, and ascribe the first letters of those English words to the coining of GOD.
